Coffeyville is a city in southeastern Kansas and is located along the Verdigris River in the state’s southeastern region with a population of 8,826, making it the most populous city of Montgomery County, Kansas.
The City of Coffeyville will use the FY24 PACT funding by employing a Co-Responder, this initiative addresses mental health crises effectively by providing timely intervention and support. The grant funding will primarily support the salary of the Co-Responder, who will collaborate closely with law enforcement and community stakeholders. The Co-Responder will work in tandem with law enforcement officers, responding to referrals and calls related to mental health crises. By meeting directly with clients identified by law enforcement, the Co-Responder will strive to understand their needs and connect them with appropriate resources and services. Key partners in this endeavor include the local police department, Four County Mental Health, and the City Commission. This project aims to improve the interaction between law enforcement and citizens during mental health crisis events through collaborative efforts, ultimately fostering a safer and more supportive community environment.
