TheCity of Erie, with a population of 94,831, is located on the south shore of Lake Erie and is the county seat of Erie County.  

The City of Erie plans to make a significant step forward by establishing a formal partnership to establish a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). This initiative seeks to involve the recruitment of two full-time seasoned behavioral health providers to spearhead the team’s efforts. Adequate funding will be allocated to equip these crisis intervention specialists with essential tools such as laptops, cellphones, and drop bags, ensuring their effectiveness both in the field and during community outreach events. Furthermore, members of the City of Erie CIT plan to attend national and statewide CIT conferences, enabling them to acquire valuable skills and insights from other teams and industry experts, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of their interventions. Program Goals

  • Recruit and retain two full-time experienced behavioral health providers to lead the CIT, ensuring that interventions are informed by best practices and clinical expertise
  • Equip CIT members with essential tools and resources, such as laptops, cellphones, and drop bags, to facilitate efficient crisis management in the field and during community outreach efforts
  • Attend national and statewide CIT conferences to stay abreast of the latest developments, best practices, and effective models in crisis intervention, thereby continuously improving the CITs
