Conyers is an Atlanta, Georgia suburb with a population of about 18,000.
The Conyers Police Department’s (CPD) co-responder program launched in 2020 with its first clinician beginning in early 2021. Within the Justice and Community Crisis Support (JaCCS) Program, the CPD seeks to expand the co-responder program by adding a clinician as well as city-issued civilian vehicles to aid in expeditious response to crises and safe transportation for individuals. Program Goals
The grant funding allows CPD to accomplish the following goals:
- Establish the first co-responder program encompassing qualified mental health professionals through partnership with View Point Health
- Furnish office space on the CPD campus and a city vehicle for 2 clinicians
