Tualatin is a city of about 28,000 residents located primarily in Washington County, Oregon with a small portion in neighboring Clackamas County.
Tualatin, Tigard, Sherwood, and King City began piloting the South Cities Mental Health Response Team (MHRT) the summer of 2022. The goal of the MHRT is to partner a police officer and mental health clinician to respond to calls involving those in crisis, to provide follow-up care, and to connect individuals with appropriate services and resources. Program Goals
The grant funding allows the city to expand co-responder capacity by employing a full-time co-response clinician. Additionally, funding will be used to provide CIT training for 25 officers.
