Every year since 2016, NCPI has collaborated with the COPS Office to build the COPS Training Portal from the ground up to what it is today – a powerful and accessible web-based learning platform and resource hub that has achieved incomparable scale and impact within the nation’s public safety community.
With tens of thousands account holders, and more than 100,000 enrollments, its exponential growth has propelled the Portal from a start-up concept to an enterprise-level platform for nationwide distribution of timely and relevant community policing training and resources to the field.
NCPI’s leadership role
NCPI keeps the Portal infrastructure running smoothly and consistently, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
NCPI directly leads and manages the Portal’s daily operations, and learning technology ecosystem, including the public website, the learning management system (LMS) which powers delivery and tracking of Portal learning content, data reporting mechanisms, course/resource enrollments, learner support, and more.
National awareness efforts
NCPI designs and implements comprehensive marketing communications plans to ensure the nation’s public safety community knows to leverage the Portal as a department-wide training tool.
We create and deploy digital, print and event-based promotional campaigns that drive awareness of this no-cost resource. Our efforts have resulted in millions of impressions and an ever-growing number of agencies and individuals enrolling in Portal courses that impact their ability to serve their communities.

Training and resource development
In addition to administering the Portal, NCPI is the most prolific training partner contributing to its content and resources.
We have created dozens of original courses and resources for the Portal, on a wide variety of public safety topics including traffic safety, child and youth safety, crisis response, community policing, crime prevention, officer safety and wellness, leadership, policing technology, professional skills and competencies, and vulnerable populations.
Learning partner support
NCPI serves as liaison to all of the organizations that have received COPS Office grants to develop web-based training for the platform.
We proudly work with the COPS Office and the following organizations to ensure that the Portal’s training materials and resources are accessible and are grounded in the latest advancements and insights, fostering a comprehensive and relevant experience for learners.
