Juneau Police Departments (JPD) seeks to enhance its crisis response by employing a full-time mental health professional. Cohort 2021.
Program Goals
The grant funding allows JPD to improve its law enforcement response to and its management of cases involving individuals with mental health conditions. The goals of the full-time mental health professional are to:
- Play an active role in responding immediately in a co-responder model with law enforcement professionals to calls received by the partnering jurisdictions regarding individuals in mental health crisis
- Perform a case management role by proactively supporting and extending resources to individuals in mental health crisis
