The Village of Schaumburg aims to enhance crisis incident management and mental health support within the community to include post-crisis incident follow-up and managed psychiatric/counseling services and offering long-term therapeutic options to address the root causes of mental illness among crisis-involved individuals. The program strives to implement a major training initiative focused on CIT while promoting regional collaboration among neighboring Chicagoland Police departments. Additionally, the Village intends to strengthen collaboration efforts with existing mental health resource networks, providing law enforcement officers with access to trusted, vetted resources who are relatable and visibly present during times of need and enhancing continuity and services across all CIT programming and oversight.
