Alachua County, located in north central Florida, has a population of just over 278,000.
Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) strives to foster community relations through interaction and works to accomplish that by expanding its Mental Health Co-responder Crisis Intervention Program from one team to two teams to ensure seven-day coverage. Cohort 2021.
Program Goals
The grant funding allows ASCO to pair a mental health co-responder with a Sheriff’s deputy to reduce arrests and hospital visits, especially by those with a mental health diagnosis.
