The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) values collaborative community partnerships that effectively serve and respond to those with mental and behavioral health conditions. VPD aims to develop and deploy the Integrated Health and Resource Team (IHART) to operate as a mobile crisis response unit around the clock. VPD seeks to dispatch IHART, staffed by one crisis counselor, an EMT or nurse, and a licensed social worker, to mental or behavioral crisis calls. Cohort 2022.
Program Goals
The program intends to provide de-escalation tactics, social work, interventions, mediation, and suicide assessments/interventions and conduct follow-up care and family services as needed.
