NCPI is Seeking Hosts for Free De-Escalation and Crisis Intervention Training

In late 2024, NCPI was awarded funding through the COPS Office Safer Outcomes: Enhancing De-Escalation and Crisis Response Training for Law Enforcement Program. Through this initiative, we proudly joined the COPS Office National De-Escalation Training Network, delivering no-cost, in-person training to public safety agencies nationwide.

Our training focuses on de-escalation and crisis intervention, beginning with the 911 call taker, and effective responses to individuals experiencing mental health or behavioral crises, including veterans and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In collaboration with CIT International, Inc., we are committed to equipping public safety professionals and their community partners with practical, real-world skills to safely and effectively navigate complex situations.

We are actively seeking partners throughout the U.S. to serve as hosts for these important courses as they are released in 2025. If your agency is interested in hosting, please contact us to discuss availability and next steps!

As part of this program, and in addition to scheduling NCPI trainings, we invite you to a no-cost webinar on Verbal De-escalation and Cultural Responsiveness, taking place on March 12, 2025. Hosted by our Network partners St. Petersburg College’s Center for Public Safety Innovation and Fox Valley Technical College, this session will explore how cultural influences shape crisis response and provide strategies for building trust through culturally informed approaches, particularly in the Native American community.
