Hoopa Valley Tribe, CA

The Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation is in the mountains of eastern Humboldt County with a population of 3,139.

The Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation struggles with the challenge of being distant from critical services such as hospitals, particularly those catering to psychiatric needs and county facilities. Recognizing this, the Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Department embraces the concept of community-oriented policing and seeks to establish a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). Cohort 2023.

Program Goals

With grant funding, the Hoopa Valley Tribe plans to:

  • Establish and implement a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program
  • Work closely with local stakeholders to identify resources for services and assistance
  • Offer case management for individuals in crisis
