Strategic, Tactical, and Resilient Interdiction of Violent Extremism (STRIVE), an elearning course, addresses community-based efforts to counter violent extremism and prevent terrorism. The course is geared toward public-safety practitioners, community members, and other stakeholders invested in collaborative efforts to counter violent extremism and prevent terrorism in our nation’s communities. This web-accessible course is intended to help participants gain a functional awareness of community policing strategies that may help effectively counter radicalization to violence, terrorism, and violent extremism at the local level.

The purpose of STRIVE WBT is to enhance the capacity and capabilities of communities to effectively counter violent extremism (CVE) by fully integrating community policing principles into their CVE and terrorism prevention efforts.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognizing the significance of violent extremism and terrorism as a community public-safety issue
  • Gaining awareness of factors associated with radicalization to violence and sustainment of violent extremism and terrorism
  • Identifying key applications of community policing practices to proactively detect violent extremism in a community setting
  • Identifying community policing principles and practices that enhance community-based efforts to counter violent extremism and prevent terrorism
